Maya Buffomante (She/Her/Hers)

Originally from Naperville, Illinois, Maya is currently completing her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre/Drama as an honors acting specialist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison alongside a degree in Psychology. As a young mixed-race woman, it is her goal to celebrate diversity and inclusion through storytelling and empower voices from communities that have so often been silenced. With a passion for both performance and social impact, she strives to create work that fosters empathy, challenges perspectives, and amplifies underrepresented narratives.

Through her studies in Psychology, Maya explores the intersection of performance and human behavior, using her knowledge to inform her approach to character development and storytelling. She is passionate about how narratives can be used to create spaces where all voices are heard.

Some of her favorite past roles range from WENDLA in Spring Awakening, to CINDERELLA US in Cinderella, to TED in Peter & the Starcatcher. She made her NYC Off-Broadway Debut at the Five Angels Theatre on 52nd Street in Find Your Light: An Evening with the Musicals of Tomorrow, a showcase of new musical works. Alongside her training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she also has trained within the New York Conservatory For Dramatic Arts Professional Development Program.

In addition to acting, she is a singer and educator, using her skills to engage young artists in creative exploration and self-expression. She is a current Teaching Artist at Verona Area Community Theatre and the Children’s Theatre of Madison.

Maya’s artistic journey is deeply rooted in the belief that theatre has the power to spark meaningful dialogue and inspire change. Whether on stage or behind the scenes, she is dedicated to crafting stories that reflect the complexity of the human experience.

Her mantra is "One Brave Thing a Day” and this guides her through her craft of both art and life.
